Summary:

The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for collecting information from the patient or family on the patients needs and performs procedures. The technician facilitates therapeutic interactions with patients, assists with the admissions process, and obtains pertinent information. This position identifies high risk situations and completes the discharge process as needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collects information from the patient and/or family on the patient’s individual and educational needs. Performs procedures per nursing delegation.

  • Facilitates therapeutic interactions with assigned patients per nursing delegation.

  • Floats to other units to assist with patient care as needed.

  • Obtains pertinent information as delegated by the charge nurse/staff nurse and assists in the admission process. Obtains and documents data collection and information as stated in policies and ensures that the data is reviewed by a Registered Nurse.

  • Transports and/or transfers patients. Assists with the discharge process and completes order entry.

  • Identifies high risk situations and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area:

  • Outpatient Behavioral Health:

  • Nurse Aide | North Dakota Board of Health | Within 4 Months of Start Date | HR Primary Sources

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) | American Heart Association (AHA) | Within 90 Days of Start Date | Learning Management System

Language Requirements:

This position requires proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to ensure effective communication in the workplace and with patients, families, and team members.
