The Safety Specialist works to maintain a safe environment for all employees, patients, and visitors of Altru Health System. This position ensures all entities of Altru Health System meets safety standards set by state and federal agencies and complies with all legal safety standards. This position prepares and enforces a culture of safety standards and practices for all facilities of Altru Health System. The Safety Specialist discovers opportunities for improving conditions and executes a variety of safety programs.Essential Job Functions:
Conducts training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
Monitors compliance to policies and laws by inspections of employees and operations.
Writes WSI grants and complete on-line reporting requirements.
Organizes and performs risk assessments, audits, surveys, inspections, and evaluations. Reports results and opportunities for improvement.
Investigates workplace injuries or accidents to discover causes.
Educates staff on workplace violence trends and prevention measures.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.

Bachelor’s degree preferred. In lieu of education, leadership may consider 5 years of professional safety experience.
