Summary:

The Payroll Specialist I and II ensures the timely and accurate processing and reporting of the payroll system. Trains and educates leaders and team members in the use of payroll and time and attendance systems. Completes paycheck calculations, taxation, voluntary and involuntary deductions. Completes forms W-2, W-3, and Form 941 and Form 941-X. Maintains knowledge of payroll compliance and regulations.

PAYROLL SPECIALIST I SALARY RANGE: $49,961.60 - $74,942.40 USD Annual
- Minimum of 1 year of experience required

PAYROLL SPECIALIST II SALARY RANGE: $55,078.40 - $82,617.60 USD Annual
- Minimum of 3 years of experience required

SENIOR PAYROLL SPECIALIST SALARY RANGE: $60,715.20 - $91,083.20 USD Annual
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional preferred
- Human Resources Certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience required

The Senior Payroll Specialist ensures the timely and accurate processing and reporting of the payroll system. Trains and educates leaders and team members in the use of payroll and time tracking systems. Completes paycheck calculations, taxation, voluntary and involuntary deductions. Completes forms W-2, W-3, and Form 941 and Form 941-X. Maintains knowledge of payroll compliance and regulations. Analyzes and evaluates current payroll programs/processes and makes recommendations for improvement/changes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for payroll processing and analyzing payroll reports. Resolves issues on payroll checks and processes manual reversals and adjustments as needed.

  • Oversees timesheet approvals and processes timesheet corrections as requested by leaders.

  • Serves as a resource to leaders and team members on matters concerning payroll and time tracking.

  • Reviews and approves all state and federal employee income tax withholding elections.

  • Responsible for intake, review, tracking and processing of employee tax reciprocity forms as well as submission of forms to the correct state.

  • Reviews and analyzes employee payroll benefit deductions and processes disbursements and invoices for payment to vendors/suppliers.

  • Processes all requests for garnishments and IWO’s. Performs calculations to determine amounts allowed according to Department of Labor (DOL) regulations, and initiates request for payment of amounts to respective agencies.

  • Provides input and communicates payroll policies, training materials, and time and attendance audit procedures. Reviews payroll publications and information to stay informed on law and regulation changes.

  • Reviews and processes invoices for contingent workers.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
