Job Summary

The ME Technician’s main role is to perform tasks in support of manufacturing engineers and production personnel. This will include machine setup and operation, creating CNC programs or processes, manufacturing experimental and production components, and inspecting critical part features. Other tasks might include participating in capital or continuous improvement projects, and assisting in the creation or design of specialty tooling. Supports production as needed to drive success for the quality of the aircraft and to satisfy the customer.

The Manufacturing Engineer technician is responsible for supporting the design, development, maintenance, and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment. These responsibilities are crucial for ensuring efficient production, high product quality, and manufacturing reliability.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Proficient with Manufacturing Engineer Technician I responsibilities
  • Creates successful CNC programs to support experimental, continuous improvement, and production activities.
  • Performs machine setups, proves out programs, and completes production as required.
  • Troubleshoots basic equipment malfunctions without the need for external help.
  • Takes ownership of tooling, fixtures, and equipment in assigned area
  • Works with engineering to solve existing issues and improve processes.
  • Follows all company safety policies
  • Completes prescribed preventative maintenance tasks on time.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workstation to meet or exceed department standards.
  • Keeps equipment operational by specifying and coordinating maintenance and repair.
  • Communicates issues to lead and supervisor
  • Maintains successful relationships with engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory departments

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, a technical degree in manufacturing would be a bonus
  • 1-3 years experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Proficient in manual and CNC machining processes, and five-axis machining experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of CNC programming techniques, preferably using Mastercam.
  • Ability to machine and modify moderate to complex parts with a lathe and a mill.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform maintenance and repairs on tooling.
  • Knows how to use basic measuring tools such as a scale, tape measure, gauge pin, calipers, micrometers, depth mic., etc.
  • Understands basic mechanical maintenance for manual clamps, suction cups, and other tooling interfaces.
  • Understands how to interpret engineering drawings and use a bill of material.
  • Has a knowledge of common hardware.
  • Has basic computer skills.
  • Can work autonomously
