Job Summary
The EHS Advisor, Sr. is responsible for supporting a variety of Environmental Health & Safety functions in partnership to business unit or campus. This role provides support for EHS Team members and other stakeholders in functional areas of EHS including, but not limited to employee relations, safety concerns, workers compensation, hazardous waste management, drug & alcohol, incident and near miss response and investigation. Facilitates and communicates organizational policies and programs and ensures regulatory compliance.
This role is included in a family of positions including EHS Advisor, EHS Advisor II, EHS Lead Advisor and Sr. EHS Lead Advisor. Employees are placed based on organizational need, employee’s level of experience, and competency within the role. This position reports to designated Manager, Safety & Security based in Duluth.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
• Supports communication and ensures compliance with EHS and regulatory policies and procedures.
• Provides support and counsel to leaders and employees to ensure consistent application and integration of EHS policies, procedures and practices.
• Coordinate with various levels of leadership and employees to provide advice and counsel on employee issues and/or concerns; If necessary conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations to ensure concerns are appropriately resolved in a timely manner.
• Works effectively with local HR team.
• Demonstrates professional behavior and the ability to maintain confidentiality on a variety of topics; understands and exercises good judgement to know when to involve HR Business Partner or leader on more complex or sensitive issues.
• Leads, develops, and participates in company-sponsored activities to support employee engagement.
• Maintains accurate employee records and administrative procedures that comply with company and regulatory guidelines.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with Operations, Managers, Supervisors, and employees.
• Participate in meetings to discuss workplace safety and regulatory concerns and opportunities.
• Outlines and implements training programs to educate and inform on workplace safety.
• Basic First Aid Response Accident/incident/near miss prevention, regulations and response
• Participation in local Safety Improvement Team
• Safety Training – including First Aid/CPR/AED and New Hire Orientation for local site
• Industrial Hygiene Monitoring
• Managing safety metrics.
• Supports Workers Compensation claims in partnership with Health & Wellness Advisor
• Supports Drug & Alcohol program compliance.
• Regulatory compliance, programs and expectations.
• Actively supports our mission, vision and core values and demonstrates Cirrus’ Service Essentials.
• Participates in department meetings and offers suggestions and ideas for process improvement.
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Other projects and duties as assigned.
• Taking initiative for continuous improvement projects and policies.
• Works directly on the floor with leaders and technicians to drive proactive safety initiatives.
• Company vehicle driving requirements estimated at 10%; must have valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, or equivalent field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 4-7 years related experience in Safety
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively manage stress, including competing work demands and multiple projects at the same time.
• Ability to effectively work with others and maintain professional demeanor.
• Exceptional Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, and Outlook).
• GSP (Graduate Safety Professional), ASP (Associate Safety Professional), CSP (Certified Safety Professional, CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) helpful, however, not required
