The City of Grand Forks is hiring a seasonal Wastewater Treatment facility Public Service Worker join our team this summer. You'll work alongside experienced mechanics and operators, helping keep our Wastewater Treatment facility and grounds clean, trimmed and mowed. — mowing, painting, maintenance, equipment operation, and more. No two days look the same.

Examples of Duties

Essential Functions:


  1. Perform a variety of building maintenance and grounds work including custodial work, mowing, painting hydrants, and other general maintenance activities.
  2. Assist Wastewater Treatment Operator with keeping the grounds of the Wastewater Treatment plant well maintained.

Typical Qualifications

  • QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
  • Knowledge: Occupational hazards and standard safety practices related to the operation of a wide variety of light to medium equipment. Techniques and methods of equipment maintenance and minor repair.
  • Abilities: Learn to operate a variety of light to heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner. Learn to perform container maintenance and repair. Learn department policies and procedures. Perform arduous tasks for extended periods of time in all types of weather. Perform preventative maintenance and minor repair of a wide variety of light to heavy equipment. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities. Maintain mental capacity which allows for effective interaction and communication with others. Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties.
