Grand Forks Public Schools
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, business administration, public administration or a related field.
Qualifications: Experience in facility management, construction trades, grounds and maintenance operations preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
Job Summary: To direct all aspects of Buildings and Grounds to include facility management, construction efforts, long-term facility planning, and staffing initiatives for the Grand Forks Public School District. Implement school district policies, and carry out the directives of the Superintendent.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Leadership
· Provide staff development and training opportunities for buildings and grounds staff.
· Identify, develop, and oversee building construction efforts including development, bidding, awarding, and completion of Performance Work Statements, Requests for Proposals, Request for Qualifications, etc.
Management
Personnel
· Supervise the operation of the Buildings and Grounds Department (custodial, maintenance, supply, office, grounds, printshop, safety & security, and transportation).
· Approve required overtime and schedule part-time personnel when necessary.
· Review and act on all requested absences from Building and Grounds staff.
· Assist in developing job descriptions for all Building and Grounds staff.
Other
· Other Duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities as Delegated by the Superintendent:
· Responsible for hiring, supervision, evaluation and termination of Buildings and Grounds staff.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.
Terms of Employment: 260 Day Contract, as established by Director’s Negotiations Agreement (frequent irregular and extended work hours including weekends.
Evaluation: By the Business Manager annually.
