Job Title: Assistant Superintendent

Education and Experience
Education: North Dakota Elementary or Secondary Superintendent’s credential
Experience: Administrative experience in elementary or secondary education and district-wide administrative responsibilities in a medium or large school system.
To lead and guide the overall operation of the schools, giving direction and supervision to the educational program, developing and implementing school district policies, and carrying out the directives of the Superintendent of Schools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategic Initiatives
Assist in District planning initiatives and organize efforts to realize the District’s Strategic Plan.
Lead organizational change, including Cultural Competency, data-directed professional development, and student intervention programs.
Provide comprehensive programming and support, including personnel, goals, families, and strategic initiatives.
Lead Administrator meetings (Elementary/Secondary) and develop/lead Joint Administrators meetings.
Lead and co-lead Cabinet meetings and Curriculum Leaders.
Collaborate with other disctrict personnel on school accreditation and Teaching and Learning initiatives.
Represent the District in civic organizations and events at the city, district, and state levels.
Participate in local, state, and national committees
Administration & Operations
Advise the Superintendent and School Board on school issues and participate in Board meetings, committee work, and negotiations.
Implement the policies of the School Board.
Manage staffing items, including enrollment projections, staffing allocations, and staff transfer/boundary line decisions.
Oversee onboarding and mentorship of Administrators and Directors.
Plan budgets, guide school expenditures, and manage building project meetings.
Monitor and advise on facilities planning, building concerns, and maintenance issues.
Serve on District Title IX team
Review and approve research requests and projects.
Curriculum & Instruction
Provide a diverse co-curricular program and assess all school programs.
Collaborate with Special Education and agencies to provide alternative programs.
Provide and monitor student achievement and assessment procedures.
Plan staff development activities and oversee Summer School programming.
Communications & Community
Respond to parent/student items, community requests, and in-district transfer requests.
Maintain communications with building/District personnel and support public relations.
Collaborate with community groups
Responsible for recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation, and termination of assigned positions. This includes:
School Principals
Directors and Managers
Specialized Staff
Associate/Assistant Superintendent Secretary.
Twelve-month contract.
Renewable under contract agreements with the Superintendent, subject to Board approval.
By the Superintendent at least twice each year in the first three years of service (December 15 and April 15), and at least once each year thereafter (April 15).
