Education: High school diploma or GED required.
Qualifications
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance practices and repair techniques.
• Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, equipment, and district vehicles.
• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with limited supervision.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
General Maintenance
• Perform routine building maintenance and minor repairs in district facilities.
• Assist with preventative maintenance activities on building systems and equipment.
• Complete work orders in a timely and professional manner.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
• Assist with setup and teardown for school and district events as needed.
• Identify and report safety concerns, facility issues, and maintenance needs.
Building and Equipment Support
• Perform basic repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, flooring, doors, hardware, and locks.
• Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, filters, and other routine building components.
• Assist with snow removal, sanding, salting, and grounds maintenance activities.
• Operate maintenance equipment, hand tools, and district vehicles safely.
• Assist skilled trades personnel with larger maintenance and repair projects.
Safety and Compliance
• Follow district safety procedures and applicable regulations.
• Maintain compliance with OSHA and other safety standards.
• Respond appropriately to emergency maintenance situations.
• Promote a positive and professional relationship with staff, students, and the public.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely. Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Terms of Employment: Twelve (12) months.
Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Maintenance Supervisor.
