The Mechanical Engineer III will provide advanced mechanical engineering support for the design and development of Ideal Aerosmith’s products and testing solutions. This role involves planning, conceptualizing, and executing complex mechanical designs while ensuring effective integration with electrical and software systems. It requires the ability to lead projects with minimal guidance, troubleshoot complex issues, work across engineering disciplines, meet deadlines with precision, and contribute to a collaborative team environment through technical expertise and mentorship.

Job Responsibilities

  • Apply principles and practices of mechanical engineering to plan and design the mechanical system for the Ideal Aerosmith product.
  • Develop CAD models for the systems designed.
  • Generate and provide supporting calculations of the design.
  • Prepare technical drawings and specifications for components and the entire system.
  • Create and generate Bill of Materials for the system.
  • Develop and coordinate test procedures to ensure operation of equipment meets quality standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Confer with engineers, product management, customers, and management to discuss existing or future engineering products and projects.
  • Provide mechanical expertise to assembly, integration team, and customer support as needed.
  • Provide estimates for labor, material, and other costs for quotes and timeline development.
  • Participate and lead within the guidelines of the Entrepreneurial Operation System
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other regulatory standards.
  • Initiate, lead, and implement continuous improvement activities to achieve profitability and improve quality.

Qualifications

  • BS or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 6-9 years of mechanical engineering design experience with superb technical knowledge of diverse mechanical engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, testing, and development processes.
  • Ability to travel (domestic and internationally) and obtain a passport.
  • To meet the requirements for government contract work and work in a restricted facility, candidates must adhere to specific criteria set by federal regulations. This includes: 1) a U.S. citizen (whether born or naturalized); 2) a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or 3) a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C.

Skills

  • Extensive experience in 3D CAD Modeling and Design, with knowledge in Solid Edge preferred.
  • Excellent working knowledge of mechanical systems and design practices.
  • Proven ability for hands on trouble shooting of mechanical systems.
  • Mathcad experience preferred.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail required.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to lift and/or carry 45 lbs.
  • Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation/keyboard.
  • Ability to type accurately and efficiently.
  • The position will require walking, standing, squatting, crouching, stooping, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, sitting, repetitive motion and kneeling.
