The Electronics Technician plays an important role in the manufacturing process building electrical harnesses, cables and components. This position assembles a variety of products, following detailed schematics and drawings, utilizing core processes and attention to detail supported by on-going training and continuous improvement. This is a foundational role at Ideal and contributes to the overall efficiency and success of the organization.

Electronic Technicians are placed into three progressive levels based on performance and company needs, offering structured opportunities for skill development and career progression.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assemble electronic test equipment, including cable assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies, circuit card assemblies, and component-level builds.
  • Operate and program automated wire cutting, stripping, and crimping equipment.
  • Perform self-inspections and peer inspections to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Document build processes, update redlines, and provide feedback to engineering on potential improvements.
  • Work closely with engineering to support process improvements and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities to enhance quality, efficiency, and workflow.
  • Assist and collaborate with project team members on troubleshooting and assembly challenges.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical components, circuitry, and basic electronics principles.
  • Experience with electrical harnessing, cable assembly, or chassis wiring preferred.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Ability to work with small components requiring strong hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
  • May be asked to travel domestically.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3).

Skill Requirements

  • Computer skills required (basic data entry, accessing documentation, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret wire lists, schematics, build specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in soldering electrical and electronic connections.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain focus in a production environment.
  • Ability to identify issues, break down problems, and contribute to practical solutions.
  • Ability to use computer systems to access, enter, and retrieve data.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to lift and/or carry 45 lbs.
  • Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation/keyboard.
  • Ability to type accurately and efficiently.
  • The position will require walking, standing, squatting, crouching, stooping, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, sitting, repetitive motion and kneeling.
