The accountant will manage, develop, and enhance accounting functions within a government systems environment, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and organizational policies. Responsibilities include FAR/CAS Compliance, DCAA audit lead, incurred cost submissions, revenue recognition, project cost accounting, and monthly reporting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Record, classify, and report financial operations in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and federal regulations.
  • Ensure accounting practices comply with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) requirements.
  • Support compliance with Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), where applicable.
  • Prepare and process end-of-month billings and contract audits.
  • Maintain accounting ledgers, journals, registers, and supporting documentation for government contracts.
  • Track and manage fixed assets, including depreciation schedules.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Support annual audits and reviews in coordination with external auditors.
  • Ensure proper classification and documentation of contract costs, including direct and indirect expenses.
  • Monitor and update annual and monthly budgets in support of government projects.
  • Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and organizational accounting regulations and policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support government systems accounting requirements.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years related experience
  • Knowledge of GAAP and federal contract accounting regulations (e.g., FAR/DFARS).
  • Experience with general accounting systems; familiarity with government-specific accounting software preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Ability to travel (domestic and internationally) and obtain a passport.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3).

Skill Requirements

  • Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to regulatory compliance.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation/keyboard.
  • Ability to type accurately and efficiently.
