The UAV Electronics Technician plays a critical role in the assembly, integration, and validation of electrical and avionics systems within unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). This position serves as a hands-on integrator at the aircraft level, ensuring that wiring harnesses, power systems, avionics, communications, and payload components are built, installed, and function together as a reliable, flight-ready system across development, test, and production environments. The role requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues quickly in a fast-paced, iterative environment. This individual will support the full lifecycle of system integration—from prototype builds through flight testing and production—while contributing to continuous improvement of build processes, documentation, and overall product quality.

Job Responsibilities

  • Build and install UAV electrical systems, including wiring harnesses, avionics, sensors, power distribution, and payload components.
  • Perform aircraft-level electrical integration and system bring-up
  • Verify end-to-end functionality across power, avionics, communications, and payload systems
  • Support power-up, checkout, and system validation procedures
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
  • Perform soldering, crimping, wire termination, and harness routing to defined quality standards.
  • Identify and document discrepancies, nonconformances, and integration issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering to resolve technical issues and improve designs and build processes.
  • Support rework, repair, and retrofit activities.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and tool control requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance build quality and efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and avionics issues at system level, including power, signal, and communication faults
  • Use diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.) to isolate and resolve issues quickly
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • 2–5+ years hands-on experience in aerospace, UAV, or similar
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and basic electronics principles.
  • Experience with electrical harnessing, cable assembly, or avionics systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in UAV, aerospace, automotive, or related technical environments preferred.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors
  • Ability to travel (domestic and internationally) and obtain a passport.
  • Due to federal contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. §1324b(a)(3).

Skill Requirements

  • Proficiency in soldering, crimping, wire termination, and harness assembly.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wire lists, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with:
    • Multimeters
    • Oscilloscopes (even basic)
    • Power supplies
  • Familiarity with:
    • Continuity testing
    • Signal verification
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 qualification preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Effective communication and ability to work with engineering and production teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and work instruction access.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have the ability to lift and/or carry 45 lbs.
  • Ability to work for extended periods at computer workstation/keyboard.
  • Ability to type accurately and efficiently.
  • The position will require walking, standing, squatting, crouching, stooping, lifting, climbing, pulling, pushing, sitting, repetitive motion and kneeling.
