Summary

The Electrical Technical Lead ensures the efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all electrical and process‑control instrumentation across the facility. This role requires a strong understanding of plant electrical systems, the ability to make sound decisions during equipment issues, and proficiency in sanitation, repair, and equipment setup to support production goals. As a key member of the electrical team, the lead works closely with the Maintenance Manager and Electrical Supervisor while following safe work practices and established procedures for installation, repair, and troubleshooting. The position also supports predictive and preventive maintenance programs and provides technical training to maintenance staff to enhance overall equipment reliability and plant performance.

Key Responsibilities

· Follow all safety procedures, SOPs, GMPs, and food‑safety standards to maintain a safe work environment.

· Maintain sanitation of equipment and housekeeping throughout the facility.

· Participate in required training and apply learned skills on the job.

· Perform preventive and predictive maintenance; troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and automation systems.

· Inspect, install, assemble, test, and maintain electrical/electronic wiring, components, and fixtures.

· Create and complete work orders, manage parts inventory, and coordinate additional maintenance work.

· Document shift events, maintenance activities, and predictive‑maintenance data using computer systems and Microsoft Office.

· Assist with design, layout, and execution of electrical and automation projects.

· Conduct electrical testing using VOMs, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools to ensure safety and compliance.

· Communicate effectively with team members, assist in training staff, and collaborate with third‑party contractors.

· Perform and update the plant thermography program to identify trends and initiate corrective actions.

· Conduct maintenance follow‑ups to verify work quality, tool usage, and adherence to safety and food‑safety procedures.

· Provide technical training and certification on PLCs, instrumentation, weigh belts, ammonia detectors, and megger testing.

· Perform additional duties as assigned to support plant operations and equipment reliability.

Typical Education

·Associate of Applied Science in Controls/Instrumentation or Journeyman Electrician License.

Relevant Experience

·3+ years of relevant electrical or instrumentation experience preferred (education/experience combinations considered).

· Completion of required Job Skills Evaluation and Structured Job Training program.

· Strong math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).

· Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

· Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and demonstrate manual/physical dexterity.

· Comfortable working with hazardous chemicals and in confined spaces.

· Ability to convert regular time to military time.

· Proficient computer skills and ability to navigate multiple applications.

· Able to climb ladders/stairs, work on catwalks, and stand for extended periods.

· Able to work in extreme conditions (hot, cold, humid, wet, slippery, inside/outside).

· Able to work independently and identify/report safety hazards.

· Acceptable attendance and safety record.

· Able to perform well under stress and in demanding environments.
