Position Summary


The Shipping & Receiving (S&R) Lead is a working lead responsible for coordinating and directing daily shipping and receiving
activities while performing hands-on warehouse duties. This role supports the Warehouse Supervisor by assigning daily
tasks, training team members, and ensuring accurate, timely, and safe execution of inbound and outbound material
movements. The S&R Lead serves as the first point of escalation for operational issues on the floor and plays a key role in
maintaining inventory integrity, documentation accuracy, and adherence to standard work.

Job Requirements/Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience required.
  • Experience in directing or leading daily work activities preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Windows, email, ERP/WMS systems).
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
    OR
  • An acceptable combination of education and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Own daily Shipping & Receiving execution, coordinating the receipt, put-away, staging, and shipment of materials, parts,
    and assemblies to ensure alignment with sales and production schedules and operational priorities.
  2. Serve as the on-floor authority, as delegated by the Warehouse Supervisor, for Shipping & Receiving operations,
    providing continuous execution oversight and real-time decision-making throughout the shift.
  3. Establish daily operational priorities and assign, balance, and sequence work activities across the Shipping & Receiving
    team based on demand, staffing levels, and material flow requirements.
  4. Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing of all inbound and outbound shipments, maintaining execution
    discipline that supports uninterrupted production and on-time delivery commitments.
  5. Verify and validate shipping and receiving documentation and system transactions, including packing slips, bills of lading,
    and ERP entries, to ensure accuracy and traceability.
  6. Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage, shortages, or discrepancies, ensuring issues are documented,
    contained, and escalated appropriately to avoid downstream impact.
  7. Maintain control of material identification, staging, and movement, ensuring materials are properly labeled, organized,
    and transported to designated locations in accordance with standard work.
  8. Execute and oversee inventory-related transactions within ERP systems and support cycle counts and year-end inventory
    activities to maintain inventory integrity within Shipping & Receiving areas.
  9. Train, mentor, and guide Shipping & Receiving team members, ensuring employees understand and consistently follow
    safe, accurate, and efficient work practices.
  10. Reinforce safety, quality, and housekeeping standards through daily presence, observation, and immediate corrective
    action when deviations occur.
  11. Promote standardized work, LEAN principles, and continuous improvement, identifying inefficiencies and execution risks
    and partnering with the Warehouse Supervisor on improvement opportunities.
  12. Act as the primary communication link between Shipping & Receiving staff and the Warehouse Supervisor, providing timely updates on operational status, risks, constraints, and execution challenges.
  13. Enable and maintain a positive, accountability-driven work environment through clear communication, professionalism, and collaboration with internal teams, suppliers, and carriers.
  14. Support the company’s Strategic, Quality, and Safety objectives through consistent execution leadership and operational

discipline.

Functional & Cognitive Requirements of Position

  • This position requires walking, sitting or standing to a significant degree.
  • Must have the ability to lift 70 pounds from floor to waist, carry 50 pounds, and push and/or pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to climb ladders and/or stairs.
  • Stooping, crouching, kneeling and bending.
  • Handling, feeling, and gripping would be required for some activities.
  • Visual acuity is required to inspect work completed.
  • This role may be subject to internal and external environmental conditions.
  • Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the
    context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or
    productivity quota.
