Salary/Position Classification

  • $17.00-$21.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position works onsite at UND Grand Forks, ND campus

Purpose of Position

To produce bakery products for Dining Centers, cash operations and catering department

Duties & Responsibilities

Prepare Bakery Products

  • Bake breads, cakes, pies, cookies, rolls, muffins and other desserts according to standard recipe and production schedule
  • Decorate pastries and desserts
  • Respond to last minute bakery requests
  • Prepares fillings, icings, frostings, and glazes
  • Measures and/or weighs all the ingredients for products
  • Uses bakery equipment such as: automatic cookie machine, sheeter, bun rounder, deep fat fryer, mixer, oven, steam-jacket kettle, proofer, jelly pump, blast freezer, and scales

Sanitation and Safety

  • Exercise proper food handling techniques used in the business
  • Clean/sanitize work areas, equipment and storage areas
  • Safely operate ovens, fryers and steam equipment
  • Put individual bakery orders for units in designated carts

Put up bakery orders

  • Wraps/bags products for serving and storage
  • Identify bakery products for each operation
  • Put individual bakery orders for units in designated carts

Required Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal land communication skills
  • Ability to stand 3-4 hours at a time
  • Ability to move up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work in various temperatures
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated, needs little supervision
  • Have an optimistic attitude, high degree of integrity, and a strong work ethic

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience reading, following and comprehending basic recipes and food production paper work
  • Experience with Microsoft Word
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • NRS Serv Safe certification
  • Experience with bakery equipment, production and quality control procedures
  • Experience with large scale food service or bakery production
