Purpose of Position
Takaku laboratory is currently studying gene regulation in cancer cells. Multiple projects are available including the study of cancer-patient derived cell free DNAs. We are looking for a candidate who is interested in genomics and can help with data analysis. This position will be responsible to perform data analysis and potentially learn wet genomics experiments. She/He will have chance to learn cutting-edge genomics and bioinformatics (such as RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq). As she/he will help obtaining data and preparing manuscripts (mainly formatting figures), she/he will be an author of papers in peer reviewed journals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform Experiments/Analyze Data Learn/perform genetic and genomic data analysis (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, MNase-seq, cfDNA) Learn/perform genomics related experiments (library preparation for next generation sequencing) Attend laboratory meetings
- Maintain Laboratory Place orders for reagents, supplies and minor equipment (including quote request) Organize lab space to maintain lab productivity and safety Make reagents for experiments
Required Competencies
- Willing to learn new experimental methods
- Responsible for tasks
- Strong organization skills and ability to pay attention to details
- Capable of communicating with other lab members
Minimum Requirements
- Field of study in computer science, bioinformatics, biology, or related field
- More than 2 months experience with computational analysis in any field
- Familiar with one of the computational languages (R, Python, Perl, C++, etc.)
- Must be fluent in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Wet lab experience in cell biology, molecular biology, or other related research fields
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
