Purpose of Position
Students will support the quantum optics lab with deposition and characterization of optical thin film coatings for an NSF ExpandQISE project. Work will be performed at UND’s Nanofoundry and involve electron-beam thermal evaporation/deposition of optical thin film coatings, and spectroscopic characterization. This work is to both operationally support the research group with custom optical elements, and to perform research on our thin film deposition techniques. The position includes training on required cleanroom tools with the Nanofoundry staff, and the option to obtain an IEEE cleanroom technician credential.

- contribute to group meetings and publications
Minimum Requirements

- Enrolled as a STEM major, sophomore level or higher
- Ability to tolerate cleanroom environment (wearing protective gloves/masks/gowns for several hours
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Completed 200-level physics or chemistry coursework
