Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this Research Assistant (Water Treatment & Biomaterials) position.

Support ongoing research in water treatment and process engineering. Responsibilities include assisting with membrane operations and fouling studies for water purification, preparing water-salt samples and feed solutions, and processing bioreactor samples. The role also involves transferring samples between facilities and the laboratory, contributing to biomaterials-related projects, and assisting with updates and maintenance of the research group’s website. Candidates should be detail-oriented, reliable, and comfortable working in a laboratory environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in water treatment and process engineering research
  • Assist with membrane operations and fouling studies for water purification
  • Prepare water–salt samples and feedstock solutions
  • Process and handle bioreactor samples
  • Transfer samples between facilities and laboratory
  • Support biomaterials-related research projects
  • Assist in updating and maintaining the research group’s website

Minimum Requirements

  • Proficiency in essential laboratory skills, such as reagent preparation, equipment calibration, sampling, preferred.
  • Students who have completed introductory courses in chemistry, biology or chemical engineering with grades of B or better.
  • Skills in updating webpages preferred.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
