Purpose of Position
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position with federal work-study eligibility.
This position is integral to providing access to the collections in the Chester Fritz Library. The Material Student Assistants are involved in all levels of processing and organizing new and returned collections, as well as acquisition of digital resources.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Performing records management (creating and updating information) on the library's system and excel spreadsheets
- Creating and affixing spine labels, attaching property information to materials
- Searching for electronic journals
- Adding Tech & Tools items into the catalog, making sheets and barcode cards
- Assisting with materials assistance calls including talking with patrons
- Assisting with shifting books
- Assisting with holds and office deliveries
- Assist with processing of state and federal documents
- Locating and pulling materials from the shelves
- Shelving materials
- Shelf reading, checking red shelves and book drops
- Assorted other tasks to prepare materials for use

Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must be current UND students (any discipline) and enrolled at UND for Fall 2026 semester
- Must have an accepted Federal Work Study award from the Office of Student Finance
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
