Purpose of Position

The Department of Theatre Arts invites applicants for a part-time instructor to teach Tap during the Spring 2027 semester. This position is contingent upon enrollment and availability of funding.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will receive a contract for one course. The successful candidate will:

Teach one section of THEA 242: Tap

Support student growth in the course

Required Competencies

Demonstrated ability to teach tap at the university level
Demonstrated ability to teach learning competencies from basics to time steps, wings, etc.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Evidence of the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students
Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of Theatre Arts
Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree
1year of experience teaching tap to advanced dancers
Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
