Salary/Position Classification

  • $12.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 10-15 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position with federal work-study eligibility.

Student will assist in the physical processing and inventorying of archival materials from UND Athletics, including departmental files from all UND sports teams. Physical processing involves hands-on work with historical materials to prepare collections for long-term preservation and researcher access. Students may also assist with data entry to support collection inventory and cataloging workflows.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Physically processes archival materials by removing metal fasteners, relocating clippings, adding title and descriptive information to folders, and rehousing photographs according to archival standards
  • Maintains accurate and consistent folder-level organization within departmental collections
  • Records descriptive notes about folder contents to support collection and item-level description
  • Assists with data entry of inventory information into collection management spreadsheets
  • Additional tasks as needed

Required Competencies

  • Careful attention to detail and ability to follow established procedures consistently
  • Ability to handle fragile historical materials with care
  • Strong computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and remain focused during repetitive tasks
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and reliable
  • Displays excellent interpersonal communication skills

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must be current UND students (any discipline) and enrolled at UND for the fall 2026 semester.
  • Must have accepted a Federal Work Study award from the Office of Student Finance
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
