Purpose of Position
The Hardware Technician (Student) supports the University Information Technology (UIT) Hardware team by assisting with device diagnostics, repair, and lifecycle processes. This position provides hands-on technical experience while supporting daily IT operations across campus.
This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Complete hardware repairs and upgrades (e.g., RAM, storage, battery replacement) on both university owned devices and personally owned student devices.
- Perform hardware diagnostics and basic troubleshooting on university devices and personally owned student devices.
- Intake, documentation, and ticket management within TDX.
- Device preparation, cleaning, and inventory/parts organization.
- Training, support, and additional duties including endpoint assistance and projects.

Minimum Requirements
- Must be willing to work a minimum of 10 hours per week
- Valid driver’s license
- Basic understanding of computer hardware components (RAM, storage, batteries, peripherals, etc)
- Willingness to complete vendor training (Dell TechDirect & Apple certifications)
- Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in IT support or technical troubleshooting
- Progress toward or completion of Apple or Dell certifications
- Experience repairing or upgrading computer hardware
- Familiarity with macOS and/or mobile devices
- Experience working in a ticketing system (e.g., TDX or similar)
