Required
- Current LPN license or temporary permit for practice in the state of North Dakota.
DESCRIPTION
Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) provide direct resident care, which includes monitoring residents' vital signs, administering medications and treatments, and assisting with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and eating. LPNs also document residents' progress, communicate with families and other healthcare professionals, and ensure the comfort and safety of the residents. LPNs often act as a bridge between residents and the care team, advocating for residents' needs and providing emotional support. LPNs must be compassionate, detail-oriented, and capable of handling a wide range of medical and personal care tasks to promote the well-being of residents.
FUNCTIONS
- Report changes in the resident’s condition to the physician, Care Coordinator, and family on a timely basis. Document any changes to the resident’s medical record and communicate them to the next shift.
- Document accurately and concisely
- Collaborate effectively with all other disciplines in meeting the needs of the residents.
- Directs the ongoing care of the residents daily during the assigned shift.
- Supervises and/or delegates appropriately to the LPN medication/treatment nurse, CMAs, CNA, and Health Unit Coordinators (HUCs).
- Assesses the condition of the resident accurately and collaborates with the RN and Care Coordinator as indicated.
- Physically and mentally responds to emergency situations; able to initiate and delegate CPR.
- Administers medications and treatments as prescribed and assesses the effectiveness of these.
- Effectively handles and reports emergencies, accidents, incidents, and complaints.
- Accurately receives, interprets, and transcribes Physician orders.
